| Pap. And we paid for it... »
- The car has been fixed. The paint match is excellent, I'm quite satisfied. The repair company forgot to restore the passenger side front wheel, so it's going back in for additional work next week. There's an impact scratch on the driver's side alloy which was missed during the accident assessment. P&R have agreed to restore that one as well, for the discount price of £65, because of the inconvenience.
- I had forgotten that processed, white, pre-sliced bread used to be sold in wax paper. It was fairly useless as a wrapper - there was always a slice or two infused with wax as a result of contact with the still hot loaf - but it was the most amazing lubricant for playground slides. A steel chute could be polished to an almost frictionless surface with a Homepride or Sunblest wrapper. The thrill of the additional speed was incomparable for an eight years old.
- Bank holidays. Four day weeks seem to be far more tiring that the normal five. Probably because we all try to fit the same amount of work into a shorter period of time.
- Simon was very drunk on Thursday night, after attending a leaving do. He fell off his bike on the way home. The alcohol softened the impact and deadened the pain at the time, but the day after he was hungover, stiff and badly grazed. The moral, as always, is to temper the alcohol with soft drinks and make the effort to eat sometime during the evening.
- We bought some fancy reclining deckchairs from John Lewis. It hasn't stopped raining since.
- The rain does seem to be revitalising out ailing bamboo though. There are lots of little leaf shoots opening all over the branches.
- Doctor Who is postponed for a week to make room for The Eurovision Song Contest. Meh! I don't know whether to be upset, as a fan, or thrilled, as a lover of trash television. Decisions, decisions.
- The BBC has announced new guidelines for television show end credits. This will allow them to add adverts for subsequent programming. Damn' them! Don't they realise how annoying those inserts can be?
Comments
Those BBC credits things are shockingly bad! We're almost America now. How horrible.

Yep, couldn't agree more. they make it impossible to read the credits and it will mean that there are no more "fancy" end credit sequences since they will be too small to see.
Bang goes the "You have been watching..." style of credits so beloved of 1970s comedy.

What a hole in the weekend the lack of The Doctor made.
As for the new style credits, I agree they aren't nice. Looks like i'll be channel switching at teh start of the credits now.
I wouldn't know about being hungover, I never seem to suffer from that. Probably because I always walk for 20 mins and have a litre of water before sleeping.
